Welcome to My Blog!

Struggling for months I've broken down and decided to join the blogging revolution. Here you'll find my thought's on all things Philadelphia Sports also including my thoughts on the national sports scene as well. This blog will have some sort of format, usually I'll give you my thoughts on all four major Philly Sports teams Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and Sixers. And anything extra I'll add in there, also plan to do some interviews on here as well. Plus all the goings on at PhillyPurge.com where I am a staff writer. Well below will be my first official blog entry......so enjoy.

Things are kinda slow round the Philly sports world it being the holiday season and all but we'll find something to talk about.

The Phils signed utility outfielder and pinch hitting dynamo So Taguchi the other day, which in MLB news means Bobby Kielty is likely headed back to Boston. However, It's a good move for the Phils to sure up not only their outfield depth but their bench as well. They still need to sure up the bullpen and the starting rotation, however neither seem likely to happen. The Phils have a need for a 5th starter as they aren't sure what Adam Eaton is going to do not only on the mound but health wise. The bullpen is almost there but having one more solid guy back there wouldn't hurt at all, apparently the Phils have contacted Akinori Otsuka former reliever for the Texas Rangers. Who knows what his deal is though, the Rangers tried to trade him before last seasons trade deadline but found little to no suitors. His health was in question then and the market for him isn't exactly blowing up so I'd imagine most teams still have some concerns about his health.

Not expecting much from this team but fans can take some pride in knowing that they all leave it out on the court. Everyone of those guys plays hard from the tip and you can't ask for anything else. They've strung together some wins here and there and have kept games close against better opponents. It's ashame it doesn't look like Mo Cheeks will be back next season if he last the rest of this one. That's the way sports goes in most cases however, when a team gets a new GM he usually picks his own coach. The Sixers have a bright future lots of money coming off the cap next season, most likely another lottery pick coming, everything is pointing in the right direction. With young exciting players on this squad I'd advise all of you to just go to the Wachovia Center and check out a Sixers game I'm sure you can get good tickets at a low price now. You won't be dissapointed, plus you'll be seeing the first steps of a growing team.

After an impressive performance from almost everyone on the field against a team that HAD to win you can't help but be impressed. Donovan looked like Donovan of old, Stewart Bradley looked as good as Ray Dindger advertised, Chris Gocong kept his silently solid season going. Who knows maybe the Birds are only a few players away?

Flyers are on a bit of skid lately and looking for ways to crawl out of it. Trading Ben Eager to the Blackhawks for former Flyer Jim Vandermeer was a message to the whole locker room. They traded away a guy that everyone liked in the locker room. Shows all the guys in there that damn I could be next if I don't pick it up. The Flyers will be alright, it's not like they've been getting killed they are playing good games just not finishing when it counts but that will come, it has to.

Until next time....Check out PhillyPurge.com
