More Thoughts on the Death of John Marzano

First off, I know it may be hard to understand outside of the Philly area and perhaps Seattle and Boston why such a big deal has been made about John Marzano's untimely death. I can't speak for either of those areas, however, I can for the Philly side. John Marzano was Philly, he had a key to the city. Not often do you see the kind of connection Philly fans had with Marzano, a member of the media, happen so quickly.It wasn't quite the connection we hold with Harry Kalas or maybe Gene Hart, but it was certainly getting there. Watching him break down film, or talk up a slumping player, you believed every word as if it were your own. Reading a story about Marzano on ComcastSportsnet.com, there is a quote from him:

“The fans can tell when you’re mailing it in, I got to give ’em my best.”

And if you ever saw Marzano work on television, or behind the plate that quote really sums him up well.
